This Western Bluebird design is a tribute to the rare and nearly extirpated little beauty that once graced our local landscapes in abundance.
Restoration efforts are underway to bring back Western bluebirds in the remaining Garry oak ecosystems they rely on for nesting, breeding, and foraging habitat.
Although I have yet to see a Western bluebird myself, I'm hopeful for a future where these resilient little birds fill the oak meadows and woodlands with their vibrant hues and sweet songs once again!
